A
discussion was held and it was decided that the name of the board members
group would be called The Teen Council
The
votes were added up and the The Teen Council board members were announced.
It was also brought up that this was our first voting experience and things
didn't run as smoothly as we thought they should. The voting process was
discussed and we'll improve that in the future. Six months from the first
election will be the second one.
It
was decided that the teen group members would have a bake sale at the Crazee
Days celebration. The members each said what items they would like to bake
for the sale. Charlotte suggested they make big portions that could be
sold for $1. each.
The
July 25, 2009 BBQ was discussed. The members were asked to volunteer to
serve food at the BBQ which will be held in the old El Rancho parking lot.
The
mud bog events were discussed and members were asked to volunteer to help
sell candy at the mud bogs. The mud bogs are held at Optimist Park every
other week.
Farmers
Market was discussed, again, members were asked to volunteer to sell vegetables,
fruit, candy, soda and popcorn.
Volunteers
were asked if they could show up at and help to clean the front area outside
of the Youth Center and it was also brought up that the inside was going
to need to be cleaned and this would need to be done before the BBQ which
would also be an open house for the Youth Center. A date was set for April
24, 2009, for members to show up and help clean the area in front of the
youth center. A discussion was held about the possibility of a new logo
or painting the old one.
The
next meeting dates were discussed and the meeting was closed.

April 22, 2009
Attending the meeting
were:
Beth, Maddison, Chris, Dustin
Discussions included:
Volunteers
are needed for Crazee Days. What positions do people want to have when
they are at Crazee Days? Ticket sellers, popcorn sellers, baked goods/water
sellers etc. and it was decided that we would need at least two people
at each bouncy toy. It was asked who would be paying for the ingredients
to cook at the bake sale, each person would provide their own ingredients
for that things they make. It was discussed that flyers could be made and
put on car windshields.
It
was decided that there would be a Guitar Hero contest at the Youth Center
on Crazee Days.
Needed
changes in the voting and electing process were discussed. What would happen
if any one stepped down or lost their position on the council was discussed
briefly. It was decided that further discussion was needed on this subject.
Theresa has set the bar for being removed, if a person misses two meetings
they're out automatically.
Clean
up of the Youth Center was discussed. It was brought up to paint the bathrooms.
Some colors were suggested, it was decided that a vote would be taken to
decide on colors. Dustin said he would talk to Mr. Johnson at his school
to find out about getting left over paint from the school being painted.
Laser
tag was brought up. Trying to find ways to make it profitable. The company
said they would wave their delivery and pick up fees if we rented from
them.
Volunteers
were asked if they could show up at and help to clean the front area outside
of the Youth Center and it was also brought up that the inside was going
to need to be cleaned and this would need to be done before the BBQ which
would also be an open house for the Youth Center. A date was set for April
24, 2009, for members to show up and help clean the area in front of the
youth center. A discussion was held about the possibility of a new logo
or painting
the old one.
Chris
was going to talk to Mr Starky about getting making announcements at school.
Ideas
for the BBQ were discussed and it was decided that a dunking booth would
be too much going on all at once.
Other
discussions included events for the center, things suggested were: Talent
shows, a play and bake sales every friday at the center. Charlotte said
that possibly, Mrs. Custer, with the Mountain Home Arts Council could help
out with the play idea.
No
new meeting date was set for the next Teen Council meeting.
May 1, 2009
The
meeting opened with Noie discussing voting and how people need to pay attention
to who they are nomination and voting for and pay attention to their behavior.
It
was decided that Noie would get three more meetings worth of help from
the adults and then he would need to start taking charge on his own.
It
was brought up that we only have 22 more days left until Crazee days and
that there is a lot that needs to be done before then. Cleaning the inside
of the center needs to be done as well as painting. The discussion turned
to the fact that there are going to be two events taking place on the same
day. Crazee Days with the jumpy toys and the Guitar Hero tournament sponsored
by the city of Mountain Home. Kathy brought up the point that this was
going to be a lot to have going on on the same day. It seems that everyone
wants to volunteer for the Guitar Hero part of the event and ignore the
jumpy toys needs. Sharon agreed with Kathy and a bit of a discussion was
held as far as volunteers being needed for BOTH areas.
A lot of the teens said they
didn't want to work the actual jumpy area or sell food, they just wanted
to be where the
Guitar Hero tournament was
going to be. We told them that wasn't going to happen and talked about
how long each person would be volunteering for each event. It was decided
that a list was going to be made of who was going to volunteer in which
areas at what times. It was also said that the old Thrifty Car lot was
decided on for where we would have the jumpy toys. CJ said that he was
going to try to work it out so that the Guitar Hero event could be held
inside at the Thrifty lot.
A vote was taken to see who
wanted to have the two events on the same day. The vote was five for yes
and three for no. Also discussed was the fact that we need more adults
to be at Crazee Days to volunteer.
Summer
hours were discussed with Charlotte asking for suggestions and letting
the youth know that the final decision was hers. The teens said they like
the hours on Fridays and would like them to remain the same. A change of
weekday hours was suggested from 4:00pm - 7:00pm. These hours were suggested
to work around the hours of the pool being open.
CJ
Talked with Noie and Maddison about making up an agenda for each meeting
so that things could be a bit more orangeade. They talked about making
a list of things that need to be in the discussions of the meeting, placing
a time limit on how long that topic would be discussed and taking questions.
GREAT IDEA!
Days
for clean up were decided on and will be:
Friday - May 8th at 5:00pm
Friday - May 15th at 5:00pm
With Painting being on Saturday,
May 16th. Kathy said she would provide ice cream for those who showed up
to paint and CJ said he would provide pizza...YAY Kathy and CJ :)
The
next teen meeting was scheduled for:
May 22 at 7:00pm. After the
meeting there will be a quick clean up to get ready for Crazee Days.
A
new volunteer showed up and helped clean the kitchen...Welcome Debbie!
It
was suggested that in order to advertise that we are having fund raisers
and trying to raise money for the new center, a news station should be
called and maybe they could do a story on what we're trying to accomplish.
Also suggested was getting involved in more ways to raise the communities
awareness of what we are trying to do.
Once
again, the July 2th BBQ was discussed and a volunteer sign up sheet was
put up.
Painting
was discussed as far as what colors to use. Chris said his father is going
to donate some paint and it was decided that a vote for colors would be
made after we see what colors are actually available to us.
June 26, 2009 - 7:00pm
Attending
the meeting were: Jacob, Beth and Maddison. Debbie and Sharon were also
there.
A
discussion was held to elect the new President and Vice President due to
the absence of the President for the last three meetings. Chris was excused
due to visiting his mother.
Jacob
was elected as the new President and Beth was elected as the Vice President.
It
was decided to meet at Albertson's Saturday morning to sell tickets for
the BBQ and get people to sign up for the Partnership cards.
July 10, 2009 - 7:00pm
Attending
the meeting were: Jacob, Beth , Diane, Charlotte and Sharon.
Ideas
for fundraisers were discussed including a haunted house, soccer tournament,
flag football and volleyball.
It
was decided that we need a new logo and that we would need to get that
done before our next meeting in order to have the
new logo on
the t-shirts for mud volleyball. Beth and Jacob were coming up with ideas
and drawing them.
Jacob
is going to call Stoney's and search online to find out prices for a new
pool table, preferably one that is coin operated. If a
coin operated
one can be purchased, it will then be the responsibility of the treasurer
to keep track of the money earned from the
table.
The
topic of Youth Council member eating free at the BBQ came up. It was decided
that since the food was no longer going to be
donated, that
Youth Council members could eat at a discounted rate.
Charlotte
stressed that if someone volunteers for any fundraiser or anything at all,
they need to be there unless something comes
up and they
are unable to show up.

September 1, 2009 -
6:00pm
Attending
the meeting were: Jacob, Beth , Diane, Charlotte, Kathy, Pam and Sharon.
Decorating
the float for AFAD was discussed. It was decided that the float decorations
would be worked on throughout the week and that the 11th would be the day
the float would be put together. Jacob said he would get volunteers to
help with that.
Volunteers
were decided to ride on the float and to work the mud bogs later in the
evening. There was a discussion about if the volunteers would be able to
watch the mud bogs or not. Charlotte said if we have enough volunteers,
they could.
A
date was decided for a dance to be held on October 9, 2009. Charlotte was
able to get a DJ to volunteer to play the dance. WAY TO GO CHARLOTTE! The
dance will be from 7:00pm until 10:30pm.
There
was a discussion about some of the Halloween events coming up, the spooky
house and a dance were discussed.
It
was decided that during meetings, ALL cell phones should be turned off.
It is important for the volunteers to pay attention to the meeting and
what is being palnned and discussed.
The next meeting was scheduled
for September 8, 2009 at 6:00pm.
